Al Young - Art

Al Young has been a professional artist, writer, and craftsman for more than 35 years. Artworks presented in this online gallery typify a portfolio featuring not only oil paintings and lithographs, but masterful pencil drawings, interior design projects and installation art, as well as works completed in other media. For the past ten years, most of his published writings, featured in the Article Database on this site, have focused on creating and maintaining a home environment that nurtures and renews. His work as a craftsman is also integral to The Storybook Home Journal™, now in its eighth year of publication, and his life-long love of music is woven into the lyricism of the Inspired™ albums produced by Al Young Studios.

Elspeth Young - Art

Elspeth Young’s oil paintings express her lifelong fascination with capturing not only the human form, but the wonder of nature. Since graduating from Brigham Young University in 2003, she has worked fulltime as an artist, and while a diverse range of commissions has given her experience in various media, she now concentrates her painting primarily on religious art, in which her natural talent, exhaustive research, and craftsmanship are exemplary. She also contributes to every facet of The Storybook Home Journal™, which regularly features her photography and music, as well as her skill as a graphic artist. Each Inspired™ album produced by Al Young Studios also features her work as a composer, arranger, and performer.

Ashton Young - Art

Ashton Young is a professional artist working in stained glass, printmaking, and drawing. He is also experienced in gilding, framing, graphics, interior design, installation art, woodworking, lettering, painting, and photography, as well as project planning and implementation. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 2003 with a degree in history. His seven years of professional experience includes a diverse and demanding range of commissions. His photography and creative projects appear in issues of The Storybook Home Journal™. My Father’s Captivity, a historical project featured in the Article Database on this site, includes his transcription of hundreds of pages of original source materials. This site also features his work in stained glass and custom framing, for which he is available on commission.

Stained Glass

Ashton Young’s stained glass creations are sensitive, one-of-a-kind expressions of color, form, and craftsmanship. The colors and sinuousness of nature are captured in the light and texture of the objects portrayed. His interpretations of heraldic devices convey the boldness of the times and places from which they originate. Each window or light fixture, ornament or decoration is a masterpiece of light and color, form and texture.

Women in the Scriptures

The Women in the Scriptures project by Al Young Studios has been comission for a book by Camille Olson Fronk, at Brigham Young University. The two volume set on Women in the Scriptures is schedule for publication, by volume, in 2009 and 2010. Elspeth Young has created the paintings of each woman featured in the book, while Al and Ashton Young will provide other illustrations for the book.

Heroes of the Book of Mormon

The project entitled “Heroes of the Book of Mormon”—or the Manti Project—is a series of artworks protraying scenes and people from the Book of Mormon. These artworks are available for sale directly from Al Young Studios. The project has been under way since 2006.
