Internet Explorer 8 and the Al Young Studios web site

by Tanner M. Young

After the release of Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 (IE 8), Al Young Studios has updated its web site to utilize the new features in Internet Explorer 8, specifically WebSlices and Activities. In addition to adding new features, Al Young Studios has updated the CSS files to be IE 8 and CSS 2.1 compliant.

Note: These features are not intended to replace other tools such as RSS, but to offer users more content-delivery options.

WebSlices

“WebSlices” allows a clip or snippet of a web page to be saved and stored by IE 8. When that snippet of code is updated, IE 8 notifies the user of the content change. This differs from RSS in that a separate file in RSS format must be updated to trigger user notification. With WebSlices, IE 8 silently opens the page containing the WebSlice and compares it with the cached WebSlice. The user is notfied of any changes are found. For more information on WebSlices, please visit the Microsoft IE 8 website or review the documentation provided in IE 8.

If you have Internet Explorer 8, you may subscribe to WebSlices on the following pages:
