Behind the title of the painting

This painting was created as part of the Isles of Rune Project.

The Far Isles were mountainous and densely wooded.  So precipitous were the coasts of these lands and so massive were the granite mountains to which the forests clung, that throughout this region only woodland creatures dwelt upon the land.  The few people who made their homes there—to watch over the trees and the forest creatures—dwelt chiefly in walled towers upon outcroppings of rock strewn in some of the bays and inlets when the mountains rose from the sea.  The Far Isles, where the People of the Lantern planted the forests, were the cradle of all woodlands throughout the Isles of Eona.
