Types of prints available from the Studios

Lustre prints are printed on professional lustre paper using calibrated presses, and Mounted Lustre prints are the same printing method and image quality, and they also include mounting to sturdy gator board, coating with a protective UV-resistant finish, and can be placed directly into a frame without needing glass or matting. Metallic paper prints have a more vibrant and glossy finish than lustre prints. Mounted metallic paper prints have the metal finish and all of the extras offered with the Mounted lustre print option. Brushed metal is printed directly into the surface of an aluminum sheet. This makes the metal print very sturdy and largely resistant to scratches, marks, or fading. All regular Black and White images are available as Brushed Metal prints. Pearled metal prints are the same as the brushed metal, except the aluminum has a white "pearled" coating that keeps the color of the image closer to the original photograph. All regular color photos from the Studios are available in the pearled finish. Direct-on-metal prints (either brushed or pearled) are the preferred mounting method for photographs hanging in museums, and all Studios direct-to-metal prints come with a free french cleat for easy wall installation. Poster prints are large poster versions done on a matte Epson paper, which creates a less reflective finish and allows for larger sizes than the metal prints or other finishes. Canvas Giclées are specially coated and treated canvas prints that use the same process the Studios offers on its top line of fine art oil painting reproductions. Smaller canvas sizes come premounted to sturday gator board and are ready for framing. Larger sizes ship unmounted and can be mounted by most framers to gator board or canvas stretcher bars, depnding on size and framing needs. Cropped Prints are cropped and aligned by the photographer to best fit the print size ordered.
